مضى 13 عاما على زواج المغربي إلياس غنتيتي بالكندية من السكان الأصليين، جين سام-كرومارتي . زواج عُقد في المغرب في 9 يوليو تموز 2007 وتمّ الاعتراف به في كيبيك المقاطعة التي تقيم فيها الزوجة.
لكنّ منذ ذلك التاريخ، لم يتمكّن الزوجان من العيش معًا في كندا. وتضطرّ الزوجة جين إلى الذهاب مرّتين في السنة إلى المغرب وبالتحديد إلى مدينة الوطية في الجنوب المغربي على ساحل المحيط الأطلسي، لتقضي بعض الوقت مع زوجها.
مشغل الصوتوتقدّم الزوجان بطلب الحصول على الإقامة الدائمة في كندا للزوج. وقوبل الطلب بالرفض من قبل مصالح وزارة الهجرة الكندية.
وفي حوار أجراه راديو كندا الدولي مع الزوجين وهما متواجدان في مدينة الوطية، قال إلياس غنتيتي إنّ “السلطات الكندية اعتبرت زواجنا غير حقيقي.” خاصة وأنّ علاقتهما لم تكن تجاوزت بضعة أشهر حينها.
وقد تعرّف الزوجان على الانترنت في 2006 وقرّرا الزواج بعد عام من ذلك.
والتحقت الزوجة بإلياس في شهر أكتوبر تشرين الأول 2019 وهي تقيم معه في المغرب أملًا في أن تغيّر سلطات الهجرة الكندية رأيها فيما يخصّ زواجهما.
ويقول ديفيد تشالك، المحامي المختصّ في الهجرة والذي يتكفّل بملفّ الزوجين : “دوام علاقة السيدة سام كرومارتي مع زوجها حسّن حظوظها في هذا الطلب. لقد تزوجا منذ أكثر من عقد. بالإضافة إلى ذلك ، فهي تقضي الكثير من الوقت مع زوجها ، بما في ذلك الإقامة الطويلة.”
وقدّم الزوجان طلبًا جديدا كي يحصل الزوج على الإقامة الدائمة للعيش مع زوجته في “شيساسيبي” (Chisasibi) في الأراضي التابعة لأمة الكري في شمال كيبيك.
ويأملان أن يكونا أوفر حظّ هذه المرّة وأن تنتهي معاناتهما قريبا كي يتمكّنا من العيش معًا.
