With the first official weekend of summer bringing concerts, festivals, and celebrations to the Halifax region, the NSLC is reminding Nova Scotians to avoid driving impaired.

In a release the NSLC says it is partnering with Halifax Transit to offer free rides across the municipality Friday from 6 p.m. to the end of service in order to help people get home safely.

Free rides will be available on all Halifax Transit services, including buses, ferries, and Access-a-Bus as the city kicks off Halifax Music Fest.

In additon to the two-night festival at Garrsion Grounds, the Halifax Wanderers will be hosting Pacific FC at the adjecent Wanderers Grounds Friday night.

The initiative is part of the NSLC’s Safe Rides program and supports its responsibility campaign, What Are You Willing to Miss?, which encourages Nova Scotians to plan ahead, not drive impaired and choose a safe way home.
