Events get underway on Friday when the Sail GP Rockwool Canada Sail Grand Prix kicks off a busy weekend in the downtown. The popular sporting event is sure to attract many fans as well as hundreds of participants and their families, which the city says will create a packed waterfront and congested downtown. As a result, the HRM says Haligonians should be aware of some disruptions, such as a closure on Argyle Street, which will shut down between Carmichael and Prince streets each evening to accommodate free post-race concerts from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Ferry service will also be impacted, with the Alderney and Woodside ferries halted daily from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. to make way for the races.
