According to the Halifax Professional Fire Fighters, crews responded to the fire around 12:45 p.m. “Additional resources were requested as crews deployed hose lines and aerial devices to bring the fire under control,” read a social media post from the union. “Fire fighters are currently engaged in suppression efforts, roof operations, and scene management.” Halifax Regional Police had closed Duke and Carmichael streets near the arena as of 1:30 p.m. as fire crews responded.
