Zachery Lafave still missing five years after disappearance in Yarmouth County

The mysterious disappearance of a young man in Yarmouth County continues to baffle investigators five years after he went missing.

January 1 marked five years since the Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit opened a missing persons investigation for Zachery Lefave.

The then-21-year-old had been last seen walking on Hwy 334 in Plymouth around 12:15 a.m. after attending a New Year’s Eve gathering earlier in the night.

The RCMP says investigators have spoken to more than 200 people but still need more help from the public to solve the case.

They would particularly like to speak with anyone who was driving or walking on or near Hwy. 334 between Arcadia and Wedgeport between the hours of 11:30 p.m. on December 31, 2020, and 3:00 a.m. on January 1, 2021.

At the time of his disappearance, Zachery Lefave was 21 years old, 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, with brown facial hair, brown hair and blue eyes. He is now 26 years old. He was last seen wearing a hat, plaid shirt and shorts.

The case is case is included in the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Reward for Major Unsolved Crimes Program. A reward of up to $150,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the disappearance.
