Newfoundland controlled the opening half of the first period as Blake Pilgrim-Edwards scored twice. Quinn Kennedy responded for the Mooseheads at 14:27, taking a pass from Owen Phillips and firing a shot from the left-wing faceoff circle past Regiment netminder Louis-Antoine Denault. Halifax and Newfoundland traded goals in the second period. Liam Arsenault scored shorthanded at 6:09 for the Regiment, and Danny Walters replied at 13:23, knocking a loose puck under Denault and into the Newfoundland net. In the third period, Matys St-Gelais and Justin LaRose both beat Nick Cirka to secure the win for the Regiment. With the loss, Halifax falls to 17-13-1-1 on the season. Pilgrim-Edwards earned first star of the game with a pair of goals and an assist. Kennedy was awarded second star for the Mooseheads with a goal and an assist, while third star went to Arsenault with a goal and an assist. Halifax returns to action Tuesday, Dec. 30, for the newest installment of the Battle of Nova Scotia as they host the Cape Breton Eagles at Scotiabank Centre.
