Boil water advisory lifted for Waverley Road area

Halifax Water says drinking water is once again safe to consume in the Waverley Road area.

The utility lifted a boil water advisory for about 2,000 customers in the area on Tuesday morning.

“To lift the Boil Water Advisory, Halifax Water has been continuously monitoring the system and has completed sampling as per Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change (NSECC) and the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) requirements,” reads a media release from the utility. “Test results confirm that all drinking water samples have met the requirements established by NSECC and the MOH, therefore the precautionary boil water advisory can be lifted immediately. ”

Halifax Water says impacted customers should flush any appliances that store water, like fridges, for 10 minutes, and get rid of any ice cubes made during the boil water advisory.

The municipality meantime says road repair work is ongoing in the area of the water main break on Waverley Road. That work is expected to continue through this week and drivers are asked to expect delays.
