· WestJet announces new European destinations from Halifax

Three new summer routes are being added to the list of transatlantic destinations from Halifax Stanfield, while also connecting Halifax to an American city.

WestJet on Tuesday announced a new slate of destinations for the 2026 season, including Lisbon, Madrid and Copenhagen.

The airline also announced flights to Detroit from Halifax.

All of the new routes will launch in May 2026.

“WestJet is proud to invest in Halifax and to help open Europe to Canadians, and Canada to the world,” said Samantha Taylor, WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Experience Officer. “With shorter flight times, competitive fares and direct access to Europe’s cultural heartlands, Halifax is uniquely positioned to serve as Canada’s Atlantic gateway.”

The airline already offers service to Barcelona, Amsterdam, Dublin, Edinburgh, London Gatwick and Paris.
