Wood has been missing since Oct. 18, when a fire broke out in their unit of a multi-residential unit home in Kitchener, Ont., a community west of Toronto. The fire caused significant property damage, although no injuries were reported. The blaze was quickly determined to be arson, and police confirmed that foul play was involved. However, the nature of the foul play has not been specified, as officers say they need to protect the integrity of the investigation. Police also refused to say if this was a targeted incident. Wood’s friends and former classmates at Mount Allison University (MtA) have started a GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs as Wood’s parents travel from their home in Nova Scotia to Kitchener to continue the search.
