Blue Jays tie up the World Series with 6-2 victory against the L.A. Dodgers in Game 4

The Toronto Blue Jays have tied up the World Series with a 6-2 victory against the L.A. Dodgers in Game 4.

The Blue Jays and the Dodgers were coming off a marathon Game 3 that lasted 18 innings and over six-and-a-half hours, eventually ending in a Freddie Freeman home run to give the Dodgers a series lead.

In Game 4, L.A.’s Max Muncy scored on a sacrifice fly from Enrique Hernández in the second inning to open up the scoring.

An inning later, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. brought Nathan Lukes home with a two-run homer to deep left-centre field to give the Jays a 2-1 lead. With the swing of the bat, Guerrero Jr. made Blue Jays history, with the most postseason home runs at seven.

Shane Bieber settled in after the second and ended up working 5.1 innings to keep the Blue Jays ahead, keeping the Dodgers from mounting an early comeback.

Back-to-back hits from Dalton Varsho and Ernie Clement kicked off the seventh inning and knocked Ohtani out of the game as a pitcher. He remained in the game as a hitter.

Both Varsho and Clement came in to score off of a single from Andrés Giménez and an RBI from Ty France.

An intentional walk put Guerrero Jr. on first which Bo Bichette followed up with a single, bringing Giménez home. Guerrero Jr. would score off an Addison Barger single to left centre field, giving the Jays a 6-1 lead.

The Dodgers managed to get one run in the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough to stave off the Blue Jays.

Mason Fluharty, Chris Bassitt and Louis Varland pitched in relief for Toronto in the win.

The World Series is now tied 2-2. Game 5 will be Wednesday night in L.A.
