Halifax police investigate shooting in the north end

An adult victim was taken to hospital after a shooting in the North End community in Halifax on Thursday night.

Officers responded to the shooting before 10:40 p.m. in the area of Veith and Hanover streets, according to Halifax Regional Police.

Officials said the victim was shot by an unknown suspect and taken to hospital with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, but the shooting is not believed to have been random.
