Labour Day Monday marks the last long weekend of the summer, ushering in a return to fall schedules. The forecast is looking good for some outdoor activities. Air quality advisories have been lifted for HRM and Monday will see a return to some above seasonal temperatures. Monday is anticipated to reach a high of 25 C with full sun. There’s plenty to keep in mind for the weekend including a list of closures and service changes that could impact plans. Grocery shopping and alcohol Most grocery chain will be closed on Monday. Dartmouth’s Gateway Meat Market, Dave’s Fruit and Vegetable Market, and Wolfville’s Hennigar’s Farm Market will be open but may have reduced hours. All NSLC stores will be closed. Municipally operated recreation facilities and pools will be closed. Outdoor pools and splash pads have ended their season. Beaches will remain open but will not have lifeguards. The Emera Oval will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weather permitting. Municipal services Solid waste collection will not take place on Monday. Service will be moved to an alternate day. All Public Library branches will be closed. City administrative and employment services are closed. The 311 contact centre will be open for urgent matters only. Transportation Municipal transit services will operate on a holiday schedule. The Alderney ferry will run every half hour. There will be no Woodside ferry service.
