On May 23 at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a weapons complaint near the 5100 block of George Street. Police say the driver of a U-Haul van stopped and threatened to assault people he did not know with a tire iron, then fled the scene before officers arrived. The van was located, but the driver failed to stop and escaped at a high rate of speed. Police say they ended the pursuit due to concerns for public safety. At around 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a collision at the intersection of Connaught Avenue and Quinpool Road. The U-Haul van had reportedly struck another vehicle. The driver fled the scene on foot but was found nearby and arrested.
