The weather is mostly cooperating in the municipality on Friday, with Environment Canada expecting a high of 11 C. It will also be a clear skies day with the breeze starting to pick up near the afternoon to 40 km/h. Overnight clouds are supposed to develop and bring showers both Saturday and Sunday. Stores closed Both Good Friday and Easter Sunday are designated retail closing days in the province, which means most stores and businesses are shut down. Grocery stores like Superstore, Sobeys and Costco will be closed on Friday and Sunday. All NSLC stores will be closed Friday and Sunday. Major shopping centres like Halifax Shopping Centre, Mic Mac Mall and Dartmouth Crossing will all be closed on Friday and Sunday. Many pharmacies will be open, however, some may have reduced hours of operation on Friday and/or Sunday. Expect banks to be closed both Friday and Sunday. Some may also be closed Saturday. Transportation Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday schedules on Friday, but will be operating on regular weekend schedules on Saturday and Sunday. Alderney and Woodside ferry services will not be operating on Friday but it will operate on its regular weekend schedule on Saturday and provide holiday service on Sunday with the first trip departing at 7:30 a.m. Woodside ferry service does not operate on weekends or holidays. Buses and ferries will operate on regular schedules on Monday. On-street paid parking will be free on Friday and Monday. Recreation All branches and departments of Halifax Public Libraries will be closed Friday, Sunday and Monday. Many municipally-operated recreation facilities will be closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. HRM recommends calling ahead for operating hours and program information. Services Canada Post will not be collecting or delivering mail on Good Friday or Easter Monday. There will be no municipal solid waste collection on Good Friday, it skips to Saturday. There will be regular curbside collection on Easter Monday. The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the municipal recycling plant and municipal composting facilities will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but will be open for regular operating hours on Saturday. The Household Special Waste Depot in Bayers Lake will be closed this Saturday. The 311 Customer Contact Centre will be closed on Friday and Sunday. Urgent calls can still be reported during the holidays.
