CITYnews halifax / By Mark Hodgins

A deep freeze is in store for Nova Scotia at the beginning of next week, but not before temperatures jump up this weekend.

Environment Canada’s forecast for Halifax shows temperatures rising to 7 C on Sunday.

But CityNews’ weather specialist Allister Aalders says the province is in for a cold snap to start next week.

More stories from the CityNews team:

“A cold front will slide across the province on Monday, and behind that front we have Arctic air moving in,” Aalders explained. “Overnight lows through Monday night and Tuesday night and possibly Wednesday night in the minus teens, with windchill values well into the minus twenties.”

Environment Canada’s forecast says that Monday will be a low of -14 overnight, and Tuesday will see a love of -17 C.

Aalders says daytime highs will struggle to reach -10 C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
