The Highway 107 extension will connect Sackville, Bedford and Burnside, from Highway 102 in Lower Sackville to the existing 107 from Burnside to Musquodoboit Harbour. A spokesperson for the Public Works department told 95.7 NewsRadio the extension would open late afternoon or early evening Friday, depending on when crews finish their work. Related: Nova Scotia budgeting $500M for highway projects, improvements in 2024-25 Majority of Canadians admit to speeding, driving over the limit: poll “The new extension of Highway 107 will create more efficient routes for people to travel and help reduce congestion and accidents that are currently seen on Magazine Hill,” said Fred Tilley, Minister of Public Works. “With our growing population, projects like this are also important to help support those who want to come and live in our great province.” The new stretch of highway was approved in 2018 and was expected to be open by the fall of 2023 before facing delays. The extension came at a cost of $252.4 million, higher than the original estimate of $210 million.
