The RCMP says a homicide investigation is underway after human remains found in a burned vehicle in Pictou County last month were identified as a woman missing from Truro and a man from Alberta.

On November 9, the Mounties responded to reports of an abandoned, burned vehicle on MacLean Road in Greenhill, and human remains were found inside the vehicle.

Five days later the RCMP started investigation the reported disappearance of Kelly Trask, 32, from Truro, and said the circumstances around her disappearance were suspicious.

The human remains have now been identified as those of Trask and Tyler Meagher, 34, from Grand Prarie, Alberta.

The RCMP says the murder investigation is being supported by the fire marshall and the medical examiner service.

Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with police or Crime Stoppers.
