The hold and secure was lifted around 9:30 a.m., according to the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. Police cruisers were seen on Rosemeade Avenue between Leeds Street and Normandy Drive as of 8 a.m. Neighbours told CityNews Halifax there was a shooting at a house in the area around 7:30 a.m. Halifax Regional Police confirmed a shooting happened on Rosemeade during a “dispute” between two men who knew each other. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds while the suspect had not yet been found. “Officers are still in the area and are looking for the suspect,” police said. “He is described as a white man with short dark hair, wearing a beige cardigan over a white shirt, dark baggy pants, grey shoes and carrying a grey shoulder bag.” In a statement to CityNews Halifax, Halifax Regional Centre for Education communications officer Lindsey Bunin said St. Stephen’s Elementary and Highland Park Junior High were under a hold and secure out of an abundance of caution.
