Halifax Regional Police had a section of Kent St in the south end of Halifax closed Tuesday morning after a weapons call.

A release from HRP said officers were in the 5000 block of Kent St in response to the call and that there was no threat to public safety.

A witness at the scene told 95.7 NewsRadio that the incident began around 10 o’clock last night and that it’s believed that there was a person inside a residence in a standoff with officers.

Members of the Emergency Response Unit, a drone and a police dog were all seen in the area.

Police were asking residents to stay away from the area while they conducted their investigation.
