It’s time to get skating, Halifax.
The Emera Oval is opening for the season at 4 p.m. Friday, according to the Halifax Regional Municipality.
The popular skating spot is the largest outdoor, artificially refrigerated ice surface east of Quebec City. The city says the skating surface is equal to three NHL rinks.
Equipment can be rented for free, including skates and helmets, but you do need valid ID to rent. Kids under 12 must wear a helmet, but everyone is encouraged to do so.
HRM is hosting a Skate with Santa on Sat., Dec. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A full schedule of public skate times can be found on the city’s website.
