Freezing rain warning ended for HRM

It doesn’t seem like Mother Nature is done with Nova Scotia just yet.  Environment Canada had issued a freezing rain warning for parts of mainland Nova Scotia and western Cape Breton on Thursday morning, warning of freezing rain and ice pellets in the morning.

The national forecaster lifted the warning just before 8:00 a.m. but said to expect flurries before noon, with scattered flurries possible throughout the day.  Strong winds were also expected, with gusts to 80 km/h possible.  That wind and cold overnight temperatures could make it feel like minus 15 on Thursday night.

Environment Canada says freezing rain conditions can cause surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots to become icy and slippery.

Forecasters said the region would remain cloudy through Thursday night and for most of the day Friday with some partial clearing possible on Saturday.
