Province announces plans for more long-term care rooms

The province is planning to open or replace thousands more long-term care rooms over the next decade.

Government says the goal is 2,200 rooms added or replaced by 2032. That’s on top of the aleready announced 3,500 rooms expected by 2027.

Long-term care minister Barbara Adams says all new living spaces will be single rooms equipped with their own bathroom.

The work is expected to begin with 336 rooms in the Halifax area, including new nursing homes in Halifax and Bedford, and additions to the facitlity on Westwood Blvd. in Tantallon.
