The nearly 80-year old Nova Scotia Talent Trust will soon be able to assist even more artists in the province.

Since its creation in 1944, the trust has awarded over $2.5 million dollars to more than 1,000 gifted Nova Scotians, studying dance, music, theatre, literary, and other art forms.

The organization announced it has received a $2.8 million donation from arts patron Judith Grant.

Grant, who passed away last year in Halifax, earmarked the funds for Nova Scotians studying music within Atlantic Canada.

According to the Nova Scotia Talent Trust, Grant was born in 1926 and grew up in Bedford.

She was a concertgoer and donor to many organizations, including Scotia Festival of Music, Symphony Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra and the Maritime Conservatory.
