Military to train in and around HRM

Beginning on Thursday, Oct. 12 and continuing over the next ten days, you may see an increase in military activity around Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).

Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Special Operations Forces Command members will be in Halifax, Lawrencetown, Waverley and the Debert area as part of a training exercise.

The Department of National Defence (DND) said as part of the exercise people may see military aircraft and uniformed and non-uniformed military personnel with weapons. Military officials do say that while members will be carrying weapons, only training ammunition and training explosives will be used.

The CAF says All efforts are being made to minimize disruption and increase the public’s safety, including close coordination with local law enforcement.
