Lisa Blackburn told CityNews she has decided to move on to other things after her term ends. “You gotta have different life experiences around that council table,” said Blackburn of the need to see new people bring new ideas to council. “To me, it’s important to pass the torch to others in the community.” Blackburn was first elected to council in 2016, defeating incumbent City Councillor Brad Johns. She was re-elected in 2020, defeating challenger Greg Frampton. During her time on council, Blackburn has sat on several committees, including the Board of Police Commissioners and the Community Planning & Economic Development Standing Committee.
