Stormwater charge moving to municipal property tax bills this fall

by admin

CITYnews halifax \ By Mark Hodgins

The Halifax Regional Municipality says the right-of-way charge, formally known as the stormwater right-of-way charge, will be moving from Halifax Water bills to municipal property tax bills.

The charge is changing, too — going from a flat $40 to a new amount that will be based on assessed property value.

The money is used for the maintenance of roads, bridges, trees, lighting, signage and guard rails, as well as management of the stormwater system.
