Nova Scotia singer-songwriter Bruce Guthro dies at 62

An iconic Nova Scotia singer-songwriter has died.

Reports say Cape Breton’s Bruce Guthro has died at the age of 62.

Guthro has recorded as a solo artist, and was lead vocalist for the Scottish celtic rock band Runrig from 1998 until the group retired in 2018

He wrote seven albums over the course of his career with one going gold and won nine east coast music awards over the years.

Halifax Mayor Mike Savage calling Guthro talented, dedicated and the best of company who truly cared about people.

“He toured the world with Runrig and used each stop to be an ambassador for Cape Breton,” wrote 22 Minutes’ Mark Critch.
