Halifax Regional Municipality and most of mainland Nova Scotia remain under a rainfall warning.

The alert from Environment Canada says much of the province is expected to see 40 to 70 mm or more of rain through Saturday.

The national forecaster says rainfall rates are expected to be heaviest for the Annapolis Valley through to northern Nova Scotia Saturday and for the Atlantic coast Saturday night. Should thunderstorms develop, rainfall rates could approach 25 mm/hour.

Environment Canada says Similar storms in the past have caused hazardous driving conditions and localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas and warns of the potential of flash floods and water pooling on roads.
