On Feb. 6, Nova Scotia is reporting 95 people in the hospital who were admitted due to COVID-19.

All of those patients are receiving specialized care in a designated COVID-19 unit.

The province reports 13 people are currently in the ICU.

Of the 95 people in the hospital, 87 of them were admitted during the Omicron wave.

The age range of people in the hospital is between 4 and 95-years-old. The average age is 65.

Nova Scotia also reports two other groups of people in the hospital related to COVID-19.

The first group includes 135 people who were identified as positive upon arrival at the hospital but were admitted for another medical reason, or were admitted for COVID-19 but no longer require specialized care.

The other group is made up of 139 people who contracted COVID-19 after being admitted to the hospital.

On Feb. 5, Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) labs completed 2,038 tests. The province is also reporting an additional 349 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Nova Scotia reports the following number of cases in each zone:

  • Central: 142
  • Eastern: 90
  • Northern: 40
  • Western: 77

Over the weekend, the province will only issue abbreviated COVID-19 news releases. Its online dashboard won’t be updated until Feb. 7.

“The number of COVID-19 admissions and discharges to hospital is not available today,” the news release says.
