5dead, 1 in critical condition following crash in Falmouth

The RCMP is investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles in Falmouth Saturday that left five dead and one in critical condition.

Shortly after 11 p.m., RCMP officers, fire services and EHS responded to a report of a collision in the eastbound lanes of Highway 101 between Hantsport and Falmouth. Police say the investigation indicates a Honda Civic and a Nissan Sentra were travelling in the eastbound lane when they collided.

Police say a 43-year-old male and a 45-year-old female were travelling in the Honda Civic and were both pronounced dead at the scene. A 45-year-old woman and 58-year-old man travelling in the Nissan Sentra were also pronounced dead at the scene. A 50-year-old male passenger was transported by EHS and was later pronounced dead. A 29-year-old male passenger was transported by LifeFlight and remains in critical condition.

RCMP say a collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation remains ongoing.

The eastbound lanes on Highway 101 remained closed for several hours but has since reopened.
