After two years, police continue to investigate murder of Lee’Marion Cain

Halifax Regional Police is urging anyone with information to come forward two years after a young boy was shot and killed in Dartmouth.

On Dec. 21, 2021, HRP said a vehicle pulled up alongside another at Windmill Rd. and Wadell Ave. It’s alleged two suspects, both described by police as Black men in their 20’s or 30’s, opened fire on the victims’ vehicle.

A 26-year-old man was hit by the gunshots, as was 8-year-old Lee’Marion Shancez Cain. The boy was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, while the adult victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the suspects were driving a burgundy Chevrolet Equinox with tinted windows, and investigators believe there were at least two suspects involved.

“This is a tragic death that deeply affected many in ourcommunity,” HRP said in a release. “Our investigators believe that even the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.”

Lee’Marion’s case is also part of the Major Unsolved Crimes Rewards Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
