عطرا، أُعيد تركيبه مؤخرا في معامل جامعة أمريكية، قد استخدمته الملكة كليوباترا السابعة، التي كانت تتولى مقاليد الحكم قبل ألفي عام. وأوضح عالمان ساهما في تصنيع العطر لبي بي سي أنهما لم يزعما بأنه يعود للملكة كليوباترا، وأنه لا يوجد دليل علمي يربط الملكة بعطر “المندزيان”، الذي يعرض حاليا في معرض “ملكات مصر” بالجمعية الجغرافية الوطنية الأمريكية في واشنطن. وقالت دورا غولدسميث، وهي باحثة في علم المصريات بجامعة فريي ببرلين، لبي بي سي عربي: “أنا وفريق العمل لم نزعم أن المندزيان الذي أعدنا تركيبه هو نفسه ما كانت تستخدمه كليوباترا. غير أننا نقول إن محاولتنا هي الأقرب للعطر الأصلي، طبقا للأبحاث العملية الحالية”. وأضافت غولدسميث أنه ربما تتمكن هي وفريقها في المستقبل من إنتاج نسخة أكثر تطابقا مع المندزيان الأصلي. وقامت غولدسميث، التي تجري حاليا دراسة أكاديمية حول حاسة الشم بمصر القديمة، مع زميلها شيان كوفلين، المتخصص في تاريخ الصيدلة والأعشاب بجامعة هومبلدوت ببرلين، بتصنيع عطري المندزيان والميتوبيان من خلاصات نباتات وأعشاب، قالا إنهما جلباها من نفس المناطق التي جاءت منها مواد صناعة العطور في مصر القديمة واليونان. وقال باحث الآثار جاي سيلفرشتاين، المدرس بكلية الدراسات المتقدمة بجامعة تيومين في روسيا، لبي بي سي إنه لا يوجد دليل مباشر على أن هذا هو عطر كليوباترا، التي كانت مهتمة بالعطور بشكل كبير لكنه أضاف بالقول “ربما كان هذا العطر سيعجبها كثيرا”. ويشرف سيلفرشتاين، مع زميله الباحث في الآثار روبرت ليتمان، منذ عشرة أعوام على بعثة تنقيب من جامعة هاواي الأمريكية في مدينة تمويس التاريخية، والمعروفة حاليا باسم تل طماي بجوار مدينة المنصورة عاصمة محافظة الدقهلية بدلتا النيل، شمال القاهرة. اكتشافات تل طماي وأوردت جامعة هاواي الأمريكية في نشرتها الدورية الأخيرة أن ليتمان وسيلفرشتاين تمكنا من إعادة تركيب عطر ربما كانت تتزين به الملكة الفرعونية الشهيرة كليوباترا السابعة، بعدما عثر فريق البحث في عام 2012 بالمدينة الأثرية على موقع لتصنيع أنواع من السوائل مع مقتنيات أخرى ذهبية وفضية إلى جوار أفران بدائية، ترجح أن المكان كان بيتا لصانع وتاجر عطور. وأضاف سيلفرشتاين لبي بي سي “نعلم يقينا أن كليوباترا لم تعش في تمويس (تل طِماي) أو مينديز (تل منديد حاليا) المجاورة لها في دلتا النيل، ولكنها كانت مهتمة بالعطور، وربما استخدمت عطورا جلبتها من هذه المنطقة”، موضحا أن “هذا هو السبب الذي جعلنا نبحث في منطقة تصنيع حاويات العطور في تل طماي، بعدما عثرنا بالموقع على قوارير بها رواسب جافة، وذلك لبيان ما إذا كان بها آثار يمكن التعرف عليها لمكونات السوائل التي كان يتم تصنيعها هناك”. وكان مؤرخون يونانيون قد كتبوا عن عطر المندزيان باعتباره أفضل عطر في منطقة البحر المتوسط قبل ألفي عام. ونقل موقع “أطلس أُبسيكيورا” المتخصص في أخبار السفر والرحلات عن ليتمان قوله إن هذا العطر كان الأغلى ثمنا في العالم القديم، وأنه كان بمثابة عطر “شانيل 5” في ذلك الزمن، وأن ملكة مصر القديمة، ساحرة الجمال، من المحتمل أنها قد تعطرت به. وأضاف ليتمان أن “قوام العطور القديمة كان أكثر كثافة بكثير مما نستخدمه الآن، إذ كان يشبه إلى حد كبير قوام زيت الزيتون”. ويعرف تاريخيا عن منطقتي تمويس ومينديز الأثريتين المتجاورتين أنهما كانتا منبع عطرين شهيرين في العالم القديم، هما المندزيان والميتوبيان، وذلك في الفترة بين القرن الخامس قبل الميلاد على الأقل وحتى العصر الروماني المتأخر. كليوباترا والمندزيان وبحسب جامعة هاواي، لجأ الباحثان إلى اثنين من المتخصصين المهرة في دراسة وتصنيع العطور الفرعونية – دورا وزميلها كوفلين – اللذين قاما لاحقا بتجارب امتدت شهورا لإعادة تركيب العطر باتباع نفس الخطوات والمصادر القديمة وتوظيف أحدث التوصيفات العلمية النباتية استنادا إلى نصوص يونانية قديمة. واستعان الفريق البحثي بدراسات قديمة وأساليب قديمة لتركيب العطور ونفس النباتات المذكورة في الوصفات الأثرية لإعادة تركيب المندزيان من مكونات تم إحضارها من نفس المناطق التي جلبت منها في مصر واليونان، أبرزها صمغ شجرة المر الشائكة. وتقول دورا لبي بي سي إنها وزميلها بحثا في مصادر مصرية ويونانية قديمة لإيجاد حلقة وصل بين الملكة كليوباترا السابعة والعطر المصنع في منديز، غير أن “العطر لم يخلد في المراجع المصرية رغم أنه كان معروفًا بالفعل في اليونان منذ أوائل القرن الرابع قبل الميلاد، باعتباره العطر الأغلى والأكثر رواجا”. تشكيك علمي وقال حمدي مشالي، الرئيس السابق للبعثة المشتركة العاملة في تل طماي ومدير آثار الدقلهية، إنه اكتشف رقعة مربعة بطول مترين وعرض مترين يحوي بقايا أنفورات (حاويات من الفخار بارتفاع نصف متر إلى متر واحد) كانت تستخدم في تخزين العطور، وكذا ما يشبه أنابيب ترسيب وتجميع الروائح في المنطقة. وأضاف أن عطور ذلك الزمان لم تكن رذاذا وإنما في شكل دهون ومراهم. وحول صلة البقايا المكتشفة بعطر كليوباترا، أعاد مشالي التأكيد لبي بي سي على أنه لا يستطيع الجزم بأن هناك صلة بينها وبين الملكة التي عاشت في تلك الحقبة. وأوضح أنه اطلع على عدة مراجع أثرية “تشير إلى احتمالية أن يكون المكان استخدم في تصنيع عطور لصالح كليوباترا”. ويستبعد حسين عبد البصير، مدير متحف الآثار في مكتبة الإسكندرية، إمكانية الوصول إلى العطر الذي استخدمته كليوباترا. واعتبر أن حديثا كهذا ينافي الحقيقة العلمية، مؤكدا أنه لا يوجد أي دليل أثري يوضح ارتباط كليوباترا بالمكان ولا ارتباط هذا العطر بها. ويتساءل عبد البصير “كيف عرف هؤلاء العلماء أن الملكة كليوباترا استخدمت هذا العطر؟ لا توجد حقيقة وحيدة تربط هذا العطر المكتشف في هذا الجزء من الدلتا بهذه الملكة الساحرة”. وهذا الجزء من الدلتا (تمويس)، الذي كان عاصمة الأسرة التاسعة والعشرين في مصر القديمة، بعيد تماما عن بلاط الملكة كليوباترا في مدينة الإسكندرية، بحسب خبير الآثار المصري. وأشار عبد البصير إلى أن مدينة الإسكندرية الساحلية، عاصمة مملكة كليوباترا، كان بها العديد من صناع ومصانع العطور التي كانت تتعامل مع البلاط الملكي. ويضيف “إذن معرفة العطور أمر ليس بغريب على المصريين، لكن ربط هذا العطر تحديدا بكليوباترا هو أمر غريب ويخالف العلم والمنطق”. معرض عطر كليوباترا وقد جُمعت هذه الدراسات الخاصة بالعطور المنتجة في منديز في العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن مؤخرا، حيث افتتحت الجمعية الجغرافية الوطنية معرضا جديدا يحمل عنوان “ملكات مصر”، وتشمل معروضاته قارورات عطر المندزيان المعاد إنتاجه. ونقلت نشرة الجامعة عن ليتمان تعليقه على الحدث: “كم هو مثير أن أشم رائحة عطر لم يشمها أحد منذ ألفي عام، بل وربما تعطرت به كليوباترا”. ويختتم سيلفرشتاين رسالته، قائلا : “صحيح أن كليوباترا لم تكن تعيش في منديس، لكنها كانت على دراية كبيرة بالعطور. ولا يوجد أدنى شك في أنها كانت ستستخدم، من
