وكالات – سكاي نيوز غربية – أبوظبي – أثار عضو الكونغرس الجمهوري المثير للجدل، ستيف كينغ، الغضب والدهشة في الولايات المتحدة، الأربعاء، عندما تساءل بشأن ما إذا كانت البشرية ستحافظ على وجودها لولا ممارسات الاغتصاب وسفاح القربى، التي جرت على مر التاريخ.

وجاء كلام كينغ، المحافظ المتعصب والمؤيد بشدة للرئيس دونالد ترامب، وهو يدافع عن موقفه المعارض للإجهاض في شتى الحالات، بما في ذلك الاغتصاب وسفاح القربى، خلال كلمة له في “نادي وستسايد المحافظ” في ولاية أيوا.

وقال كينغ في تسجيل فيديو لكلمته تم نشره “ماذا لو راجعنا كل أشجار العائلات واستبعدنا هؤلاء الأشخاص الذين كانوا نتاج الاغتصاب أو سفاح القربى؟ هل سيبقى هناك أي بشر في العالم في حال فعلنا ذلك؟”.

وأورد “بالنظر إلى كل الحروب وكل عمليات الاغتصاب والنهب التي وقعت (…) أعرف أنه لا يمكنني أن أؤكد أني لست نتاجا لشيء كهذا”.

وتابع: “أود أن أفكر بأن حياة كل واحد منا ثمينة كأي حياة أخرى”.

وكينغ شخصية استقطاب في الكونغرس، وله تاريخ في الإدلاء بتصريحات عنصرية، وتصريحاته الأخيرة قوبلت برفض الجمهوريين والديمقراطيين على السواء.

وقال النائب الجمهوري عن أيوا، راندي فينسترا، إن كينغ يقدم خدمة للديمقراطيين لمواصلة سيطرتهم على مجلس النواب.

وكتب على تويتر “يحتاج ترامب إلى مدافعين في الكونغرس، وليس إلى أمور تشتت الانتباه”.

وانتقد ما لا يقل عن 10 مرشحين ديمقراطيين للرئاسة تصريحات كينغ.

وقال جوليان كاسترو وزير الإسكان في عهد أوباما واللاتيني الوحيد في السباق الرئاسي “لقد حان الوقت لإسقاط هذا المتعصب”.

وتصريحات كينغ المثيرة جعلت منه منبوذا في واشنطن، حيث جرده زملاؤه الجمهوريون من مهامه في لجان الكونغرس.
