فليمنغ إلى أفلام هي تلك التي ستعم على نطاق واسع بعد سنوات قليلة، دافعة شخصية من سيصبح الجاسوس الأشهر، جيمس بوند، إلى المقدمة، مهددة بأن تكون لأصحاب المهنة وأقطابها تلك الصورة المزيفة التي هي صورة جيمس بوند. وبالتالي، وعلى عادة الإنجليز في تحويل كل شيء إلى موضوع جدي، سارعت “هيئة ما” إلى إصدار كتاب عن “فن التجسس”، المعتبر دائماً ثاني أقدم مهنة في العالم بعد مهنة بنات الهوى، يضع الأمور في نصابها خوفاً على أية حال. دليل عملي لمهنة غامضة أما المشروع فيمكن تلخيصه في بضع عبارات: إصدار أول دليل عملي من نوعه حول “المهنة” يحاول أن يضعها على جادة الصواب، بدلاً من ترك الأمر على غاربه والسكوت عن التشويه الجيمسبوندي المقبل عن طريق السينما. ولقد صدر الكتاب يومها ووزع على نطاق واسع حتى وإن كان قد أخفق في أن يحقق نجاحاً كبيراً في مهمته. وكان إخفاقه النسبي بسبب النجاح الكبير الذي حققته سلسلة جيمس بوند على الشاشات، بدءاً من “كازينو رويال” ولكن مع الذروة التي سيكونها “دكتور نو” وما تبعه منذ بدايات سنوات الستين، ما جعل الدليل “تبسيطياً” ويتنافى مع الفكرة الجيمسبوندية التي سرعان ما ترسخت رغم كل شيء، واختفى “الدليل” تقريباً من التداول بخاصة أن كثراً من الناس نسوا أن الكتاب يحمل توقيعين أحدهما هو توقيع واحد من كبار الكتاب الإنجليز، غراهام غرين، أما الآخر فتوقيع أخيه هيو. يومها، ولأن الكتاب أراد أن يحيط بالموضوع من جوانبه كافة تولى غراهام استعراض الشخصيات الجاسوسية الشهيرة وتاريخ أدب التجسس، فيما تولى أخوه المسائل التقنية بما فيها التعليمات التي وضعت برسم القراء الذين قد يودون “دخول المهنة”. فالكتاب كان له جانبان، عملي وأدبي، وذلك بغية تعميم الفائدة. عودة الدليل إلى الواجهة ولئن كان الكتاب قد نسي بعد ذلك ولم يصل على الرغم من الفضول الذي اكتنفه إلى مستوى انتشار يماثل انتشار روايات غراهام غرين ونصوصه الأخرى، كان لا بد بعد ذلك وتحديداً لمناسبة ذكرى مرور عشرين عاماً على رحيل هذا الكاتب الكبير، أي في عام 2001 تحديداً، وضمن إطار إعادة نشر العديد من كتبه الأساسية والكتب التي صدرت عنه- من إعادة طباعة ذلك الدليل للاستفادة من المناسبة. ومن هنا، إلى جانب أفلام تلفزيونية وسينمائية استعادت أعماله، بما في ذلك برنامج تلفزيوني خاص عن حياته ركز بعض الشيء على مساهماته في العمل لصالح الاستخبارات الإنجليزية في حقبة من حياته، والتذكير بأدباء إنجليز كبار آخرين فعلوا الشيء نفسه، فوجئ قراء غرين بخاصة الذين كانوا قد نسوا ذلك “الدليل” بعودته إلى الواجهة. وهكذا في سياق الاهتمام العام بالكاتب الذي اعتاد أن يقسم كتاباته إلى “ترفيهية” و”جدية”، ويعتبر الجدية تلك التي عبر فيها عن إيمان كاثوليكي بالغ الخصوصية من خلال شخصيات قلقة حائرة رسمها تتراوح بين مغامرين وجواسيس ورجال دين ومثقفين، قفز الكتاب المنسي من جديد بوصفه “الكتاب المقدس لهواة قراءة أدب التجسس”. و”الكتاب الذي لا غنى عنه لكل جاسوس، أو من يتطلع إلى أن يكون جاسوساً ذات يوم”. عنوان الكتاب هو “كتاب ليضعه الجاسوس إلى جانب سريره”. كي يقرأ فيه كل يوم طبعاً. بكلمات أخرى: إذا أردت أن تصبح جاسوساً… أو إذا كنت جاسوساً وتريد أن تطمئن إلى أنك لست وحدك في هذه المهنة، وأن مهنتك مهنة كبقية المهن.. عليك أن تقرأ هذا الكتاب. فما الذي يحويه؟ من الأدب إلى العمل التقني ببساطة، كمية كبيرة من المعلومات التاريخية والمهنية، ومن الفقرات المأخوذة من أشهر روايات التجسس، وبقلم أساطين هذا النوع الأدبي، من جوزف كونراد، إلى سامرست موم، ومن جيمس فينيمور كوبر إلى رديارد كيبلنغ، حتى الشاعر أودن -الذي يكشف لنا هذا الكتاب للمرة الأولى عن أنه كان بدوره عميلاً سرياً- ومن جون بوشان إلى إريك أمبلر… وغيرهم من الذين أتى قلم غراهام غرين اللطيف ليذكرنا بأنهم جميعاً اشتغلوا بين حقبة وأخرى عملاء لوزارات دفاع بلادهم وأجهزتها، ما يعني بالتحديد أنهم إنما كتبوا بعض أشهر رواياتهم وأجملها انطلاقاً من تجاربهم الشخصية. إذا عرف غرين كيف يجمع كل هذا “العالم الجميل” هنا بين دفتي هذا الكتاب، ولكن ليس لمتعة القراءة فقط، بل لضخ القارئ بالمعلومات أيضاً وبشكل خاص. وهي معلومات تتراوح بين أساليب وضع الشيفرات السرية وحلها، واستخدام أجنحة الفراشات (على طريقة مؤسس الكشفية بادن باول) لبعث الرسائل… وصولاً إلى الحمام الزاجل وسيقان النساء وما شابه. ومن المؤكد أن هذا الجانب في الكتاب كان من شغل هيو غرين شقيق غراهام الذي اشتغل في الأجهزة زمناً أطول كثيراً من الزمن الذي اشتغل فيه غراهام وكان أقل منه اهتماماً بالسياسة والمعضلات الوجودية، ولكن أشد منه قسوة على “خزعبلات جيمس بوند” ومبتكره إيان فليمنغ، الذي كان يعرفه جيداً واتهمه بأنه حلق بعيداً من الواقع في رسم شخصية الجاسوس. بحثاً عن “أنسنة” المهنة والحقيقة أن غراهام غرين حين أشرف على وضع هذا الكتاب ونشره، شراكة مع أخيه هيو، كان لا يزال عضواً في أجهزة الاستخبارات البريطانية، التي لن يتركها إلا بعد ذلك بسنوات ولسبب إنساني خالص: رفضه الكشف عن سر صديقه كيم فيلبي في وقت كانت الشبهات تحوم من حول هذا الأخير حول علاقة له، كانت مفترضة، بالاستخبارات السوفياتية ثم تبدت صحيحة، وهو أمر كتب عنه غرين لاحقاً واحدة من أجمل رواياته “العامل الإنساني”. أما أخوه هيو، فكان حينها مديراً لهيئة الإذاعة البريطانية، غير أن خبرته الأساسية والتقنية هو الآخر في مجال التجسس تعود إلى أيام الحرب العالمية الثانية، حين كان يشتغل تحت غطاء كونه طياراً في سلاح الجو البريطاني ويكلف بين الحين والآخر باستجواب الطيارين الألمان الذين يقعون أسرى… ولقد تشارك الأخوان يومها في وضع هذا الكتاب، ضمن إطار فورة في النشر الإنجليزي، راحت تنتج كتباً من فقرات حول الكثير من أمور الحياة اليومية أو غير اليومية. ولما كانت الروايات التجسسية تعرف نجاحاً كبيراً في ذلك الحين… و-كما يبدو- كانت أجهزة الاستخبارات الإنجليزية نفسها تريد أن تعطي مهنة التجسس طابعاً إنسانياً ما، ولد هذا الكتاب الذي يعطي، بالفعل طابع العادية -والإبداع الأدبي أيضاً- لمهنة كانت قبل ذلك تحاط بقدر كبير من السرية والغموض الجليدي. تقريظ السيدة الرئيسة ولعل ما يعزز الاعتقاد بأن غراهام وهيو لم يضعا الكتاب من تلقائهما، هو أنه فيما كان غراهام يقدم للكتاب في طبعته الأولى بمدخل، مقابل خاتمة كتبها أخوه هيو، يبرران فيهما نشر الكتاب، ها هي ذي الطبعة الجديدة منه تفتتح، بمدخل كتبته السيدة شيلا رمنغتون، التي كانت أيام غراهام مسؤولة كبيرة في جهاز “أم 15″، أي جهاز مكافحة التجسس في بريطانيا، لتصبح لاحقاً وقبل أن تتقاعد رئيسة الجهاز. ففي هذه المقدمة أثنت السيدة رمنغتون ثناءً شديداً على الكتاب ومؤلفيه، بخاصة غراهام، بتقريظ يتناول، أولاً، إبداعه الروائي في مجال أدب التجسس، الذي، في رأيها، “أضفى على هذا الأدب طابعاً إنسانياً.. بل متفائلاً، مقابل التشاؤم الذي سوف يسود لاحقاً أدب جون لو
