وقال عمران خان الذي يقوم بزيارة للولايات المتحدة إن “إدارة الاستخبارات (الباكستانية) هي من قدمت المعلومات التي سمحت (للأميركيين) بتحديد مكان أسامة بن لادن“.
وأضاف “إذا سألتم السي آي ايه (..) إدارة الاستخبارات (الباكستانية) هي من قدمت (المعلومات) عن مكان أولي (يوجد فيه بن لادن).
وأضاف أن ذلك تم بفضل “معطيات هاتفية”، دون تقديم مزيد ن التوضيحات إذا ما كان بن لادن نفسه هو الذي رصد صوته هاتفيا، أم إذا كان الأمر يتعلق بمعرفة مكانه عبر مكالمة لآخرين.
وكانت باكستان ترفض حتى الآن إعطاء أي معلومات عن بن لادن الذي تمت مطاردته لسنوات قبل أن تقتله قوة أميركية خاصة في الثاني من مايو 2011 في منزله المحصن في أبوت أباد، على بعد نحو مئة كيلومتر إلى الشمال من العاصمة الباكستانية إسلام آباد.
لكن الجنرال الباكستاني المتقاعد أسد دراني الذي كان رئيس الاستخبارات بين 1990 و1992، ذكر في كتاب صدر في 2018 أن باكستان أبلغت واشنطن على الأرجح بمكان اختباء بن لادن، “وادعت أنها لا تعرف شيئا”، لأن “التعاون مع الولايات المتحدة لشخص يعتبره كثيرون في باكستان (بطلا) كان يمكن أن يحرج الحكومة”.
ويزور عمران خان واشنطن، حيث التقى الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب، الأحد، لمحاولة تعزيز العلاقات بين البلدين الحليفين، التي تشهد توترا في أغلب الأحيان.
