X FILEعربي كيف سيكون شكل الكائنات الحية على سطح الأرض بعد ملايين السنين؟ by admin 5 أغسطس، 2019 written by admin 5 أغسطس، 2019 22 ميكو تاتالوفيتش BBC / في مطلع الثمانينيات، نشر دوغال ديكسون كتابا بعنوان “ما بعد الإنسان: علم الحيوان في المستقبل”، تصور فيه كيف سيبدو شكل الحياة بعد ملايين السنين. وتخيل ديكسون في كتابه ظهور نوع من الحيوانات التي تشبه الفئران تستخدم أذيالها كمظلات، وقرود طائرة، وثعابين طويلة إلى حد أنها قد تصطاد الطيور أثناء تحليقها في السماء، وثدييات ليلية تشبه السناجب الطائرة تهجم على فرائسها بأشواكها الطويلة التي تغطي صدورها، وطيور ذات رؤوس كالأزهار وخفافيش تخدع الحشرات لتستدرجها إلى أفواهها. ويقول ديكسون إن كتابه كان محاولة لاستكشاف الاحتمالات التي ينطوي عليها العالم الطبيعي في المستقبل. ويرى أن التطور لم يكن شيئا من الماضي، بل يحدث اليوم، وستزداد وتيرته مستقبلا بعد انقراض الجنس البشري. ويجمع معظم علماء البيولوجيا على أن الأرض ستختلف معالمها تماما بعد ملايين السنين. فكما أن العالم الآن، الذي تهيمن عليه الثدييات، كان سيبدو عجيبا لمن يعيشون في عصر الديناصورات، كذلك ستبدو الكائنات التي ستتطور مستقبلا غريبة ولا تمت لعالمنا بصلة. وفي ضوء المعلومات التي نعرفها عن الحياة على ظهر الأرض وقوانين التطور، كيف سيبدو شكل الحياة والكائنات الحية بعد ملايين السنين؟ EMMANUEL LAFONT هل ستكون “محاكاة الزهور” أحد الحيل التي ستلجأ إليها الطيور لجذب الحشرات والتهامها؟ وبالعودة إلى العصور الجيولوجية القديمة منذ ملايين السنين، يقول جوناثون لوزوس، عالم بيولوجيا تطورية بجامعة واشنطن، إن الأرض بعد الانفجار الكامبري، منذ نحو 540 مليون عام، كانت تسكنها كائنات تبدو عجيبة وخرافية. إذ عُثر في منطقة بورغيس شيل في كندا على حفريات لحيوانات أشبه بالكائنات التي تظهر في أفلام الخيال العلمي، مثل حيوان “هالوسيجينا” البحري، الذي يتميز بجسمه الأنبوبي الرفيع المغطى بالأشواك الضخمة، وأذرعه الطويلة ذات المخالب. الأعداد الحقيقية لضحايا انفجار مفاعل تشيرنوبل النووي هل يجوز استخدام أبحاث النازيين إذا كانت ستنقذ أرواح البشر؟ وليس من المستبعد أيضا أن تنشأ كائنات لا تقل غرابة عن تلك التي عثر عليها في الحفريات، لكن لوزوس يقول إن مراحل تطورها سوف تستغرق سنوات طويلة. ويرى لوزوس أن الاحتمالات البيولوجية لا حدود لها، وربما يحمل لنا المستقبل المزيد منها. غير أن الوصول إلى تنبؤات مؤكدة عن أشكال الحياة في المستقبل يكاد يكون مستحيلا، إذ لا يزال الجدل قائما بين العلماء حول مدى إمكانية التنبؤ بمسار التطور أو إمكانية تكراره على فترات زمنية طويلة، ناهيك عن وجود عامل المصادفة، مثل حدوث ثوران بركاني، أو ارتطام نيزك بالأرض. ولهذا سنعرض بعض الاحتمالات المبنية على تخمينات مدروسة. في البداية، إذا عاش البشر لملايين السنين، سيكون أثرهم كبيرا على التطور مستقبلا، وسيسفر الانتخاب الطبيعي عن تطور أنواع جديدة من الكائنات الحية التي يمكنها التعامل مع البيئات الملوثة بفعل الأنشطة البشرية. وقال بيتر وارد، عالم حفريات بجامعة واشنطن، في كتابه “التطور في المستقبل”: “قد يصبح للطائر منقار خاص يساعده على تناول الغذاء من علب القصدير، أو يصبح للفئران فرو دهني يساعدها على التخلص من المياه العادمة السامة”. EMMANUEL LAFONT قد تكتسب الحيوانات مستقبلا صفات جديدة للتكيف مع العالم الملوث ويتوقع وارد أن تزداد فرص بقاء الأشكال الجديدة من أنواع الحيوانات والطيور التي تمتاز بقوة تحملها وقدرتها على التأقلم، ولا تمانع العيش بالقرب من البشر وتستطيع الاستفادة منهم، مثل القطط المنزلية والفئران والراكون وذئب القيوط والغربان والحمام، وعصفور الدوري، والذباب، والبراغيث، والقراد، والطفيليات المعوية. وقد يجبر الطقس الأكثر جفافا والأشد حرارة على الأرض ونقص المياه العذبة، بعض الكائنات الحية على التكيف بطرق جديدة. وتقول باتريشيا برينان، عالمة بيولوجيا تطورية بكلية ماونت هوليوك في ماساتشوستس: “قد تطور الحيوانات طرق تكيف خاصة لمساعدتها على التقاط الرطوبة من الهواء. وقد تطور الحيوانات الأكبر حجما أشرعة طويلة أو أغشية جلدية تفردها في الصباح لتلتقط الرطوبة من الجو، أو قد يزيد حجم الأهداب التي تطوق عنق بعض السحالي لتساعدها على جمع المياه في طريقها”. وفي ظل ارتفاع درجات الحرارة في العالم، تتوقع برينان أن تفقد الثدييات والطيور أجزاء من فرائها أو ريشها لتجمع المياه في جيوب جلدية. وقد يغير البشر في المستقبل عمدا أشكال الحياة على كوكب الأرض. فقد تؤدي الهندسة الوراثية والتكنولوجيا الحيوية وتأثير الحضارات البشرية إلى تغيير مسار التطور تماما، مثلما حدث في تغيير التركيب الوراثي لذكور البعوض لتصبح عقيمة، أو نشر نحل اصطناعي لتلقيح النباتات. فقد يرتبط التطور برغبات البشر واحتياجاتهم. EMMANUEL LAFONTليس من المستبعد أن تظهر أنواع عجيبة وغير مسبوقة من الحيوانات والنباتات تجمع الصفات الوراثية لأنواع أخرى عديدة، لكن مراحل تطورها ستستغرق فترات زمنية طويلة لكن ثمة تصورات أخرى للتطور مستقبلا، فقد يقرر أحفادنا الأكثر وعيا الحفاظ على البيئة وإعادة الحيوانات والنباتات إلى مواطنها الأصلية ليأخذ التطور مجراه الطبيعي، أو ربما ينقرض الجنس البشري. ويرى وارد أن الانقراض الجماعي أيضا قد يؤدي إلى تغيير وتيرة التطور ومساره، كما حدث في موجات الانقراض الجماعية السابقة، التي تغيرت على إثرها النباتات والحيوانات كليا. إذ قضت موجة الانقراض الجماعي في العصر البرمي، منذ 252 مليون عام، على 95 في المئة من الأنواع البحرية و70 في المئة من الأنواع البرية، بما فيها الزواحف التي لديها زعنفة واحدة على ظهرها، والزواحف الضخمة التي كانت تهيمن على الأرض آنذاك. وأفسح هذا الانقراض الجماعي مكانا لتطور الديناصورات التي أصبحت أقوى الحيوانات البرية، ثم حدثت موجة انقراض جماعي في العصر الطباشيري- الثلاثي، وبعدها حلت الثدييات محل الديناصورات لتصبح الحيوانات البرية المهيمنة على الكرة الأرضية. ويقول وارد إن الانقراض الجماعي لم يغير عدد الأنواع النباتية والحيوانية على سطح الأرض فحسب، بل أدى أيضا إلى تغيير تركيب الكرة الأرضية. ويتوقع بعض علماء البيولوجيا احتمال نشأة أشكال مختلفة من الكائنات الحية لها قدرات جديدة يعجز العقل عن تصورها. ففي المليار سنة الأولى من عمر الأرض، على سبيل المثال، كان من المستحيل تصور ظهور كائنات تتنفس الأكسجين، نظرا لقلة الأكسجين على الأرض، ولأن خلايا الكائنات الحية لم تكن تطورت بعد لتستمد الطاقة من الأكسجين. لكن الأمور تغيرت بعد أن أدى انتشار نوع من البكتيريا تعتمد على التمثيل الضوئي إلى حدوث أول انقراض جماعي على ظهر الأرض منذ نحو 2.4 مليون سنة. إذ ارتفعت مستويات الأكسجين في الغلاف الجوي وتغير كوكب الأرض برمته. ولو افترضنا انقراض الجنس البشري، بعد 100 مليون سنة من الآن، هل ستصبح الكائنات الأخرى أكثر تعقيدا وشراسة؟ فهل يمكن أن نرى الأشجار تسير على الأرض أو تقيم احتفالات على جثث الحيوانات التي قتلتها بالدخان السام؟ وكيف ستتغير الحياة البحرية؟ وهل ستنزل العناكب إلى الماء وتصطاد الأسماك بشباك مصنوعة من خيوطها، بينما تتعلم الأسماك الطيران، وترسل الحيوانات التي تعيش في الأعماق مجسمات ثلاثية الأبعاد لصورتها لتخدع بها الضواري وتجتذب الفرائس؟ أو ربما ستستعيد الحيتان وسمك السلور (القراميط) قدرة أسلافها على الركض في اليابسة لمطاردة فرائسها.
