وأسس غيشكي شركة أدوبي عام 1982 التي قدمت للعالم برنامج (بي دي إف) وغيره الكثير من البرامج في مجال الصوتيات والمرئيات.
وتصدر اسمه عناوين الأخبار بعد عشر سنوات من تأسيس الشركة، عند اختطافه تحت تهديد السلاح واحتجازه طلبا لفدية. وأُطلق سراحه بدون تعرضه لأذى بعد أزمة استمرت أربعة أيام.
وتوفي غيشكي في ولاية كاليفورنيا الأمريكية يوم الجمعة.
وقال الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة أدوبي، شانتانو نارايين، إن غيشكي الذي عُرف باسم تشاك “أطلق ثورة النشر الإلكتروني”.
وكتب نارايين في رسالة إلكترونية للعاملين في شركة أدوبي إن وفاة غيشكي “خسارة كبيرة لكل عائلة أدوبي وصناعة التكنولوجيا، التي كان بمثابة مرشد وبطل لها على مدار عقود”.
وأضاف: “المؤسسون المشاركون لأدوبي، تشاك وجون وارنوك، طوروا برنامجا اعتُبر ثورة في الطريقة التي يتواصل بها الناس ويصنعون المحتوى”.
وقال نارايين إن غيشكي ووارنوك كانا مسؤولين عن تطوير برامج إبداعية، مثل بي دي إف وأكروبات، وإلستريتور، وبريميير برو وفوتوشوب.

واختُطف غيشكي عام 1992 في واقعة تصدرت عناوين الأخبار.
واحتُجز في مكتبه تحت تهديد السلاح، ثم نُقل إلى مدينة هوليستر في ولاية كاليفورنيا الأمريكية لمدة أربعة أيام.
وأُطلق سراح غيشكي بعد العثور على مشتبه به وبحوزته مبلغ الفدية (650 ألف دولار)، وقد اقتاد الشرطة بعدها إلى محل احتجاز غيشكي.
وفي عام 2009، قلد الرئيس الأمريكي السابق، باراك أوباما، كل من غيشكي ووارنوك الميدالية الوطنية للتكنولوجيا.
وتقول زوجة غيشكي، نان غيشكي، لأحد المواقع الإخبارية المحلية إنه “كان رجلا شديد التواضع. أستطيع قول ذلك كوني زوجته. كان شديد الفخر بنجاحه، لكنه كان شديد الحرص بشأن مقدار ما يقدمه من أجل ذلك”.
